More about our youth
STAY on Friday
St A(ndrews) Y(outh) on Friday is our regular Friday night youth club.
It’s a safe place for those in secondary school to socialise, have fun, create memories and mix with others from a range of schools in our local area.
Every
Friday
6.45pm–8.15pm
During term time
The Ark, St Andrews Church, Thames Street, Sonning, RG4 6UR.
Who Attends
We get an average of 40-50 youth each week and on the fourth Friday of each month we welcome all the local year 6 children, to aid with their transition to secondary school. These weeks we get nearer 60 young people turning up, which is brilliant fun & high octane! The young people come from the local area and amazingly 15 schools are represented by all those who attend.
Friday Activities
The evening activities consist of; a pool table, a foosball table, table tennis, football, kubb, volleyball, badminton, swingball & four square. We also provide a tuck shop, nail bar, an Xbox, a PS5 and loads of board games.
But the best thing about the youth club has to be the monthly ‘doughnut wall’ where we stack 60 doughnuts onto our very own STAY for doughnuts wall!
There’s also opportunities to bake yummy treats in the kitchen and share them with the rest of youth club.
The Final Thought
Each week we end with a final thought.
The youth choose the topics and they range from; mental health to social media and managing siblings through to friendships!

The group exists to help young people deepen their faith in Jesus, build lasting friendships with each other and to connect in with the wider church family. We watch videos, eat donuts, read the Bible, pray and play games together. In November 2022 we had the great honour of baptising 5 young people in the River Thames, followed shortly afterwards with 15 young people getting confirmed.

Evenings
Monday of each month where the young people gather in each others homes. The group follows a pattern of games, cake and questions and faith. It aims to compliment what’s learned in STAY on Sunday in a relaxed atmosphere. Cakes, snacks and drinks are provided by the host families, as well as games and activities for the youth to enjoy.
