A warm welcome…
The villages of Charvil, Sonning and Sonning Eye are combined in one church of England parish, within the Diocese of Oxford. The focal point for Christian worship is the ancient parish church of St Andrew in Sonning, although the ministry team and pastoral visitors work extensively in Charvil, which is the significantly larger part of the parish in terms of population.
The congregation at St Andrew’s is made up of people from a wide variety of local towns and villages, and ages are welcomed and catered for. This website is designed to give you a flavour of all that is going on in our parish. We also have a monthly parish magazine and a welcome booklet, both of which are available in the church.
Whilst our parish is undeniably beautiful, with a very long history of serving communities, dating back on this site to the eighth century, the building is not the primary focus. Ultimately, it is merely the place where we as followers of Jesus meet together to learn more about him, and to worship God. However, it is a focal point for many others who wish to come and look around, to pray, reflect or just soak up the prayerful atmosphere.
